Company Profile – Glock

With more than 5 million sold to military and law enforcement agencies, GLOCK pistols operate without compromise in extreme conditions.

Nioa Defence proudly and exclusively represents GLOCK in Australia and New Zealand for military and law enforcement markets. The GLOCK “Safe Action” pistol is undoubtedly the ultimate semi-automatic pistol in the world, demonstrated by sales of more than 5 million pistols to hundreds of military and law enforcement agencies worldwide.  The GLOCK reputation extends to Australia where more than 40,000 GLOCK pistols are currently in service with Australian law enforcement and military agencies.

GLOCK pistols employ innovative safety features, which make the pistol easy to operate.  No other pistol offers a better price-performance ratio.  Its minimum weight and legendary GLOCK reliability are unsurpassed.

The GLOCK “Safe Action” Advantage

When the trigger is pulled, 3 safety features are automatically deactivated one after another. When doing so, the trigger bar is deflected downward by the connector and the firing pin is released under full load. When the trigger is released, all three safety features re-engage and the GLOCK pistol is automatically secured again.

Every use of a firearm exposes users to tremendous psychological strain. Learned patterns are easily forgotten in such borderline situations and complex operating elements become a deadly trap. GLOCK offers the best solution to this problem: “Safe Action“!

One operating element - one rule. Finger away from the trigger, three pistol safeties are active. Pull the trigger, the safeties are deactivated and the pistol is fired. Consequently the user can fully concentrate on his tactical tasks in the decisive moment.

Trigger Safety

As the first of the three GLOCK “Safe Action” safety features, the trigger safety prevents inadvertent firing by lateral forces on the trigger. Releasing the trigger will automatically reactivate the safety.

Firing Pin Safety

The GLOCK firing pin safety is a solid hardened steel pin which, in the secured state, blocks the firing pin channel, rendering the igniting of a chambered cartridge by the firing pin impossible. The firing pin safety is only pushed upward to release the firing pin for firing when the trigger is pulled and the safety is pushed up through the backward movement of the trigger bar. Releasing the trigger will automatically reactivate the firing pin safety.

Drop Safety

In the line of duty it may happen that a loaded pistol is dropped on the floor. Contrary to conventional pistols, the GLOCK drop safety prevents unintentional firing of a shot through hard impact. When the trigger is pulled, the trigger bar is guided in a precision safety ramp. The trigger bar is deflected from this ramp only in the moment the shot is triggered.

GLOCK Advanced Materials

GLOCK pistols have been designed to operate without compromise in extreme conditions by police, military and special units. Thanks to industry leading digital quality assurance continuously integrated in the production process, tolerances are excluded and reliable operational safety is achieved. Naturally, GLOCK is also certified according to ISO9001.

Tenifer

The name GLOCK has become synonymous for progressive material technologies in the world of arms. The Tenifer surface treatment process for barrel and slide has set standards in this regard. The Tenifer process optimizes the molecular structure of the metal surfaces, achieving a degree of hardness which comes close to that of diamond. In addition to extreme scratch resistance, it results in maximum corrosion resistance.

Polymer

Prior to 1982 it was considered impossible to manufacture a pistol with a polymer grip. All prejudice was rapidly refuted when GLOCK pistols proved to be many times more durable than conventional pistols.

In addition to 90% weight saving, minimum thermal conductivity and steady firing characteristics, the GLOCK frame is ergonomically ideal. The GLOCK hi-tech polymer does not include glass fibre reinforcement, resulting in unsurpassed breaking strength in the cold.

Barrel Profile

Solid, cold-hammered barrels with Tenifer surface treatment and rounded (hexagonal or octagonal) interior profiles offer numerous advantages to the user. GLOCK barrels are considerably easier to clean and maintain uniform precision even after a high number of rounds.
GLOCK barrels do not have any corners/edges (as in conventional barrel profiles - see picture) for deposits and enable better ballistic yield.

GLOCK Features

As the user’s life often depends on intuitive response to a situation, GLOCK has designed its pistols so that the user can read important parameters off the pistol at a glance.

Loaded Chamber Indicator

The pistol shows the user whether a cartridge is in the barrel or not. The extractor also serve as a loaded chamber indicator on all GLOCK pistols – and this entirely without additional components. Visual and palpable extractor edge.

Ergonomic  Shape

Whether strong masculine hands or delicate female hands, the GLOCK pistol always feels as if it is made to measure. After comprehensive studies of the firing hand, a grip angle of 105% was chosen to provide best firing results.
The grip design is based on the hand and equipped with a secure-grip profile. A secure weapon affording a secure grip!

Left Hand Users
An important factor in the development of the GLOCK pistol was its suitability for left and right-handed users alike. The special design of the operating elements, allows the index finger and thumb of left-handed persons to assume the leading role for operation. The configuration of the operating elements for left and right-handed users also reduces the possibility of inadvertent firing. An ambidextrous magazine release is a new feature which enhances the useability for left-handed users.

Mounting Rails

To be equipped for the various tactical requirements of the present and especially the future, GLOCK offers the user the possibility of modular-mounting a wide range of weapon accessories on his pistol.

This ensures that the weapon will still meet modern technical and tactical requirements in the years to come. Experience for instance how the brand new GLOCK tactical light turns the night into day!

Parts Commonality

GLOCK pistols have a high degree of interchangeability between models within a calibre family, allowing for significantly reduced holding of spare parts and consistency in approach to maintenance. For example, there is nearly 70% commonality in parts across the Models 22, 23 and 27.

Fewer Moving Parts

GLOCK pistols feature typically less than half the moving parts of conventional pistols, resulting in lower spare parts inventory, less wear points, more rapid disassembly and assembly, which significantly reduces through life costs.

GLOCK Training

GLOCK has dedicated non-firing training (red) and paint-marking ammunition (blue) pistols available for realistic training.

GLOCK 17T Dedicated Paint Marking Pistol

Whilst third-party conversion kits are available for Glock pistols to function the pistol using Simunition, many kits do not change the external appearance of the pistol and thus provides the possibility that an unconverted weapon is inadvertently used in a live fire training exercise with potentially lethal consequences.

The Glock 17T is a dedicated training pistol, designed to fire 9mm paint marker (Simunition type) rounds.  The frame of the Glock 17T is bright blue in colour, and magazines used with the G17T come with a bright blue base plate.

The G17T is a dedicated training weapon, bright blue in colour (internationally recognized training colour).  This makes it easy for an instructor to confirm that the student is using a training weapon with less lethal paint marker ammunition. This therefore provides for a safe training environment.

GLOCK R/P Training Pistols

The GLOCK P is identical to a GLOCK full-sized pistol in all aspects except it cannot fire live rounds, and its frame and magazine base plates are coloured red.  The GLOCK P also has a blocked barrel, and is available with or without resetting trigger.

The GLOCK R is identical to a GLOCK full-sized pistol in all aspects except it cannot fire live rounds, and its frame and magazine base plates are coloured red, and a has a resetting trigger.

This enables instructors to totally eliminate the risk of an accidental discharge during such training as loading and unloading magazines, sight alignment, grip, stance, trigger control, breathing, drawing from the holster and other operational scenarios.

GLOCK Tactical Lights

Nioa Defence also offers the range of GLOCK Tactical Lights (GTL).

GLOCK Advanced Options

EBIS Barrel

GLOCK offers an optional unique barrel coding and identifying Enhanced Barrel Identification System (EBIS).  EBIS uses a series of small grooves marked into the inside of the barrel at varying angles and in varying group sizes to provide a unique barrel “fingerprint.”  The EBIS system allows forensics experts to rapidly and accurately match a particular barrel to a projectile fired from that barrel.

Locking System

GLOCK pistols are available with an optional key operated trigger locking system which locks the trigger to prevent use during storage.  Individual and group coded keys can be provided.

Trigger Block

GLOCK pistols can be supplied with an external ambidextrous trigger block, where there is a mandatory requirement for an external safety.  The trigger block blocks any movement of the trigger.
