Company Profile – Barrett Firearms

Barrett Firearms is the world’s leading supplier of high performance sniper and anti-materiel rifle systems.

Nioa Defence proudly represents Barrett Firearms.   Barrett Firearms Manufacturing has a tried and proven philosophy that embraces the past while forever pursing the best up-to-date business practices. Most would agree that some things in life and in business are paramount and never change; such as honesty, integrity and meeting the expectations of those being served.

Ronnie Barrett set that tone 25-years-ago and Barrett Firearms Manufacturing has remained true to the mission; build a business on relationships, quality products and service, and work from the customer’s point of view. The company credo is “We think outside the box and always explore ways on how we can continue to improve.”  Barrett rifles and related products made for civilian sport shooters, law enforcement agencies, the United States military and over 50 foreign countries that are American allies prove that point.

Model 82A1

The Model 82A1 series rifle is a rugged, dependable semi-automatic rifle. In simple terms, it has earned unmatched respect because it works in battlefield conditions. Our military men and women have depended on over 5,000 Model 82A1 rifles to protect themselves and to protect our freedoms.

Unlike other semi-automatic .50 BMG's, the Model 82A1 is completely reliable. Its chamber is chrome plated and dimensioned for both civilian and military ammunition. The extractor and ejector are proven to work under any condition. Close tolerances on all parts and intelligent design allows it to function in all environments. The trigger is appropriate for a battle rifle.

The improved muzzle brake, along with dual barrel springs and a long mainspring design make the Model 82A1 comfortable and fun to shoot. Rapid, accurate fire from its ten round magazine is a breeze.

The Model 82A1 fits in a regular sized carry case. It is transported disassembled as an upper and lower receiver. The rifle is assembled and ready to fire in under a minute by inserting 2 assembly pins through both receivers. Since the scope remains mounted on the upper
receiver, the scope zero is maintained. The Model 82A1's M1913 optics rail is elevated 27 MOA to take full advantage of a scope's elevation travel. Emergency iron sights are provided as well.

Model 99

The Model 99 rifle is a robust and accurate single-shot rifle. At its heart is a one-piece Alcoa 7000 series aluminum alloy extrusion. A heat-treated steel M1913 optics rail is attached to the top of the extrusion by closely spaced high-strength structural fasteners. The match-toleranced barrel is hydraulically pressed and locked into the extrusion resulting in a rock-solid, unitized structure on which to mount a rifle telescope. Safety is unparalleled because the cartridge is surrounded by both high-grade gun barrel steel and the aluminum extrusion.

The bolt is machined from a single piece of proprietary grade steel. Its 15 lugs safely lock it into the machined barrel extension. The bolt's few moving parts are its extractor, ejector and firing pin assembly. It is reliable and easy to maintain. The Model 99 is easily disassembled without tools by removing three quick-release assembly pins. These pins attach the trigger housing and bolt guide to the receiver assembly. The match-quality trigger design is proprietary and virtually maintenance free. The bipod is easily detached for benchrest shooting.

The Model 99, like all Barrett rifles, is continuing to be improved. A more effective muzzle brake is now standard. It is available in .416 Barrett and in several barrel options.

Model 95

The Model 95 is a compact, accurate magazine-fed bolt action rifle. The bullpup design provides the shooter with the high velocity and accuracy of a 29 inch barrel but in a shortened overall length. The rifle, adopted by foreign militaries, is ideal for those seeking repeating fire with the accuracy of a bolt action.

The buttplate, magazine well, and trigger housing are unitized and help stiffen the lightened steel lower receiver. The upper receiver is made of lightened steel reinforced with a fitted steel M1913 optics rail. It supports the match-grade, chrome-chambered, fluted
barrel. The two are assembled in less than a minute using only two ball-detent assembly pins.

The innovative bolt carrier is designed for speed, reliability and safety. The carrier slides effortlessly on machined-smooth dual parallel rails. It transports a huge bolt that locks into the barrel extension at three points. The firing pin is driven by two shortened firing pin springs designed for redundancy and lightning-quick lock speed. The bolt sports a large, easy to grasp handle.

The Model 95 ergonomics make it comfortable to shoot. The rifle rests on its lightweight M60-inspired front bipod and an optional
adjustable rear monopod.

Model REC7

The Barrett REC7 is a powerful and reliable rifle styled in the familiar AR configuration. It’s a no-nonsense rifle designed specifically for those who must have a completely trustworthy, compact rifle that requires little maintenance and delivers conclusive results.

The REC7’s dependability stems from its innovative operating system. Using a minimum number of parts, a piston system separates heat and powder residue from the bolt carrier and trigger assembly. The rifle runs cool and clean resulting in increased cleaning intervals and reduced likelihood of stoppage.

The 17-4 stainless piston moves energy captured in the chrome-lined gas block to the bolt carrier. The bolt carrier, machined from a monolithic block of 8620 steel, features a piston strikeface that is integral to it. There is no separate gas key to shoot loose. The chrome-plated bolt is silky smooth, easy to clean, free of gas rings, and is purposely sized for the 6.8 SPC cartridge.

At the heart of the system is the chrome-plated gas regulator that retains the piston. The piston can be accessed through the gas block without removing the handguard, optical sights do not need to be rezeroed after routine maintenance.  The top of the gas block also has an integral 1913 rail, extending the rail length for mounting accessories.

The REC7’s forged 7075 aluminum upper and lower receivers are type 3 hardcoat anodized. The lower houses an ultra-dependable, single-stage combat trigger. The upper supports a free-floated, 16-inch, chrome-lined barrel with M-4 feed ramps machined into both receiver and the barrel extension. An efficient A-2 style flash hider reduces recoil. The REC7 is optimized for optical sights and its A.R.M.S. 50 M-CV mounting system is ideal for user-specified accessories.

The REC7 is ideal for hunting medium-sized game, and it’s fun to shoot. It was also built for someone whose life depends on a gun that works both in his hands and down range.

Model 98B

From the highly efficient muzzle brake to the user-adjustable butt plate, the Barrett Model 98B is visibly revolutionizing the world of long-range precision rifles. Barrett engineers threw out the book when they sat down to develop a purpose-built platform for precision long range shooting. Even the casual observer can see that the M98B has not descended from a bolt action deer rifle.

Drawing on Barrett’s experience designing long range rifles, the Model 98B’s modular layout allows the end user to adapt the rifle to fit their exact needs. The straight-line design running from the muzzle to the shooter’s shoulder tames felt recoil, making the Model 98B a pleasure to shoot. It also allows for faster, more accurate follow-up shots fed from the polymer 10-round detachable magazine.

The ergonomic pistol grip positions the shooter’s hand in a natural position, reducing muscle fatigue and promoting the utmost control over the fully adjustable trigger. The familiar thumb-operated safety is accessible without compromising the firing grip, allowing the shooter to maintain a solid cheek-weld on the adjustable cheek piece while manipulating the oversized bolt handle, feeding a fresh round into the chamber as the bolt silently glides through a polymer guide.

Optics and accessories are easily mounted to the aluminum upper receiver, which boasts an 18 inch 1913 rail as standard equipment. All that ‘real estate’ allows for substantial optics to be mounted in conjunction with a night sight or laser designator. For the rare application requiring additional mounting space, the optional receiver extension is available to extend the rail an additional 6 inches. The forward receiver is drilled and tapped for additional accessory rails to be mounted at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions.

The fluted, match-grade barrel is easily accessed for cleaning from the chamber by breaking the rifle open much the same way as an M4 Carbine. Barrel cooling is aided by a series of vents machined into the upper receiver.

Equipped with a rear monopod and forward bipod, shooters find the Model 98B a pleasure to shoot. Mild felt recoil, a design conforming to the shooter, and easily manipulated controls help eliminate fatigue and promote accurate shots. Shooters who are intrigued by innovative design coupled with long range performance will appreciate the Model 98B. For extreme hunting, long-range target shooting, military or police applications, the Model 98B is ready for service right out of the box – which happens to be where Barrett engineers developed the design.

BORS

BORS is an integrated electronic ballistic computer that mounts directly on your riflescope and couples to the elevation knob. Just turn the elevation knob until the LCD displays the target’s range. The BORS’ three internal sensors will have automatically calculated your ballistic solution. It compensates for aiming up or down, temperature, and barometric pressure changes. It even tells you if the rifle is canted. Place the crosshair on the target and fire with first-round confidence.

The BORS kit includes the Barrett Ballistic PC Software and the BORS data cable that allows the user to program custom loads on their PC or laptop and transfer them directly to their BORS.
